Room 22 were so excited when they heard they were doing Rhythm & Shakes this year. Rhythm and Shakes is a 6 week workshop which introduces the basics of music theory through clapping games and vocal exercises. Through West African drumming (djembes, boogeraboo’s, djun djuns) and various forms of percussion, it incorporates the three strands of the Music Curriculum - listening and responding, composition and performance. They boys get the chance to learn and perform “polyrhythms” which involve two or more rhythms going against each other at the same time. At the end of the workshop, there will be a performance for parents. You can see from the photos how much fun everybody is having!
