Some of our 6th class boys were involved in the Challenge Science Programme today at WIT. We learned about CPR, forensic science, germs and bacteria and famous scientists of the past. Thanks to Junior Achievement and Genzyme for facilitating this exciting programme.
Our school was one of five schools to receive this award from Trinity College and Google. We are the only primary school in Ireland to receive this award. This ‘21st Century Schools of Distinction Award’ aims to recognise and showcase the efforts of schools nationwide to transform their school culture and to develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning. The scheme recognises extraordinary work being successfully undertaken by our schools.
Project Awards Night 2016. Congratulations to all of our pupils from 2nd to 6th class on completing their projects. Project based learning is a fantastic way to prepare children for the future. Children complete a project over 10 weeks and the results are amazing. Well done boys, we are extremely impressed and proud.
Click read more to check out our video. Kali Sikaran is a martial art which belongs to a family of martial arts from the Philippine Islands. It involves the use of 2 to 3 ft sticks which can be used singularly or as a pair. When using the sticks in a pair, we explore simple drills called ‘Cap Cas’. These involve holding a stick in each hand and tapping the sticks against those of your partner in a predetermined pattern. It looks very easy but it takes a lot of hand eye coordination. As coordination improves so does the difficulty of the Cap Ca, ensuring the student will always feel challenged.
