Mount Sion Primary Show Their Colours!

The Mount Sion Song

UP MOUNT SION!!!

Today was a great day to be a Mount Sion boy! With our Senior Hurling team playing in the County Final on Sunday against Ballygunner, we took some time out of class today to enjoy the atmosphere. Mount Sion has won 35 Senior Hurling Championships! This is remarkable as our Club was only founded in 1932.

Our boys came to school today wearing their Mount Sion jerseys or just dressed in blue and white. All classes gathered in the Senior Yard after big lunch and a sea of blue and white marched behind the great Ken McGrath into the school hall. The boys chanting ‘UP MOUNT SION’ could be heard from Rice Park to Mount Sion Avenue and Monastery Street!

We watched some footage of Ken playing for Mount Sion and for Waterford, Ken then spoke to all the boys about how important it is to listen to your teachers and to your coaches. Ken asked the boys to go to Walsh Park at 3:30pm on Sunday to cheer on Mount Sion.

There was a great buzz in the hall. A video of the wonderful late Paddy Greene singing the Mount Sion Song was shown to the boys and in great voice we finished our build up to Sunday’s game with all the boys singing the Mount Sion Song. It was an emotional afternoon and we hope to see all our Mount Sion boys cheering loudly in Walsh Park on Sunday!

Up Mount Sion!!!
